Austin Coriell, 94, of Ashley Corner, Wheelersburg, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at SOMC Hospice.

Born May 31, 1916 in Scioto County, a son of the late David Lindsey and Ruby Barrett Coriell, he was a retired farmer, was a forest fire warden, and was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1935, a member of American Legion Post No. 888 in Columbus and a member of Sunshine Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Alma (Miller) Coriell whom he married August 29, 1942; one son, Donald (Pam) Coriell of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren; Jason (Kristine) Coriell of Lucasville, Jodi (Aaron) Kallner of Wheelersburg, Kristin (Jamie) Riley of Minford; seven great grandchildren, Abbie Kallner, Aurie Coriell, Kendall Riley, Alyssa Coriell, Ellie Kallner, Annie Coriell and Grant Kallner; one brother, Vernon G. Coriell of Portsmouth, and one sister, Estelle Coriell of Portsmouth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Ray Coriell on December 2, 1947; four brothers, George Coriell, Loren Coriell, David Coriell, Emmett Coriell; four sisters, Wilma Coriell in infancy, Lula Coriell, Ada Coriell Brofft and Fern Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford with Jason Coriell, Jamie Riley and Jon Coriell officiating. Burial will be at Batterson Cemetery.

Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Sunshine Church of Christ. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post No. 622 and James Baker Post No. 363 American Legions.
