All-SOC Volleyball Honors 
Kallner, Blankenship split SOC II Player of the Year

On Tuesday, the SOC named their all-conference first and second teams for both SOC I and II as well as the individual accolades for both divisions.

Wheelersburg senior Abbie Kallner was named co-SOC II player of the year and was also named to the SOC II first team where she was joined by teammates Alli McQuay, Mallory Bergan, and Emily Boggs. Waverly’s Hailie Silcott, Carli Knight, and Kami Knight represented the Tigers on the SOC II first team. The lone Valley Indian on the first team was Bailee Day. South Webster senior libero Hannah Spergin represented the Jeeps on the SOC II first team alongside teammate Faith Maloney. Jeeps’ head coach Darcee Claxon was named SOC II coach of the year in the conference in 2018. Northwest’s lone representative on the first team was sophomore Haidyn Wamsley. Minford senior Ashley Blankenship shared the co-player of the year awards with Kallner and was joined on the first team by libero Maddie Slusher. West’s Molly Taylor and Oak Hill’s Caitlyn Brisker rounded out those named to the SOC II first team. The Wheelersburg Pirates were the conference champions thanks to having the best record against conference opponents by going a perfect 14-0.

Those who received SOC II second team honors include: Wheelersburg’s Kylee Barney and Kaylee Darnell, Waverly’s Hailey Robinson and Hannah Robinson, Valley’s Kaity Howard, South Webster’s Briana Claxon and Gwen Messser, Northwest’s Addisyn Newman, Minford’s Livi Shonkwiler and Ally Coriell, West’s Breanna Bricker, and Oak Hill’s Beth Eiring.

In the SOC I honors, the conference co-champions, Notre Dame and Clay, each had four players make the SOC I first team. For Clay, SOC I and Division IV District 14 player of the year Jensen Warnock was joined on the first team by teammates Lila Brown, Delanie Gilliland, and Taylor Lewis. Notre Dame’s Cassie Schaefer, Sophia Hassel, Clara Hash, and Katie Dettwiller were those Titans who received SOC I first team honors. The other players who were named to the SOC I first team include: Glenwood’s Shelby Easter, Western’s Carigan Haggy who was also named defensive player of the year in the conference alongside teammate Haley Whitt, Symmes Valley’s Ericca Ross, Eastern’s Katie Newsome, Madison Southworth, and Sydnee Keller, Green’s Kame Sweeney, and East’s Grace Smith. Notre Dame and Clay split the conference title in 2018 as a result of both teams finishing conference play with a 13-1 regular season conference record. East head coach Jessica Conley was named SOC I coach of the year.

The following players were named to the SOC I second team: Notre Dame’s Claire Dettwiller and Taylor Schmidt, Clay’s Shaelyn Vassar and Jaelyn Warnock, Glenwood’s Taylen Hickman and Morgan Rawlins, Western’s Chelsey Penwell and McKenzie Evans, Symmes Valley’s Payton Hunter, Eastern’s Skylar White and Morgan Legg, Green’s Kori Deifield, and East’s Kacie Bell.
